Our Story
I began my career in print at the age of 16, all the way back in 1989, so you could say I’ve got a fair bit of experience!
My ambition to run my own company had always been a goal of mine, and this goal was realised in 1997, where I began producing my own high-end work within the industry.
As a humble business owner, I won’t name-drop those I’ve done work for… However, let’s just say, if you were to order from me, you’d be joining the illustrious ranks of clients such as Dior, Harrods, The V&A Museum, Elton John. Oh, and not to forget a little work for Her Majesty the Queen.
Now, not to bore you with a history lesson, but print was a very different business 35 years ago when my passion for the art was ignited. Automation and AI were words only reserved for sci-fi films, and the world of printing was manual machines, marvellously designed and manned only by those of us with the knowledge and training to do so.
It is this exact knowledge and training that I have acquired through my long experience which raises my work to such a high standard. My clients receive only the best when ordering from me, and I pride myself in my ability to meet their needs.
These past few years, I have focused on perfecting the production of personalised greaseproof paper (which I assume is why you’re here!) – a product that is not easily sought on the market. In my time in the industry, I have discovered that the majority of companies lack the care and attention regarding exactly what the client’s request should look like, which is not the case here at Grease Lightening.
Now, I understand our work is certainly cut out for us, printing on greaseproof is no easy feat, quite the opposite. I have found that the market is riddled with those printing your designs in washed-out colours to reduce drying times and slash their own costs at the expense of your brand.
Yes, our method uses more ink and skill to achieve our signature vibrancy, but we pledge that here at Grease Lightening all your designs are run at full PMS colour, to look as they were intended. All of our inks are food safe certified and we ensure that every order has fully dried before they leave our factory, giving you the peace of mind that your print won’t run. If you need your vision delivered quickly, we also run an ‘Express My Order’ where we endeavour to bring your design to fruition in just two days.
